IBOS member Nordea welcomes 35 startups worldwide to develop FinTech ideas this week, and the best projects will take part in the Nordea Accelerator programme for the second time this upcoming autumn.

Over 200 companies applied to Nordea Startup Accelerator program, and the chosen 35 will be welcomed this week at Nordea’s Oslo office to develop FinTech ideas. The 20 most innovative projects out of the 35 will then be selected to take part in the programme in Stockholm and Helsinki this upcoming autumn.

The Nordea Startup Accelerator is an intensive 12-week programme where startups have the opportunity to develop ideas, whilst working alongside Nordea and FinTech experts in the Nordics. The startup companies selected are coming from across the globe, including: the US, Russia and Singapore.

The Accelerator programme was first established by Nordea in the winter of 2015-2016. Last year, two startups received over EUR 600,000 in new financing, and Nordea continues to work with both of them. Due to its success in the past year, Nordea has announced the Accelerator programme’s second year.

Nestholma remains Nordea’s facilitation partner, along with IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and IBM’s presence throughout the programme. Similarly, the second programme will include various FinTech experts.

Jan Sirich, Head of Experimentation & Learning at Nordea commented:

“It’s fantastic to see such great interest, and I’m impressed with the breadth of the applicant startups, both in terms of their ideas, and where in the world they come from.

The programme helps us identify new, innovative opportunities. We are continuously working hard on developing great digital services for our customers, and rely on acquiring expertise and creativity, from outside the organization too. This time, Nordea Startup Accelerator is focusing on ideas in new technology such as cognitive computing, artificial intelligence and blockchain technology. But, we are also interested in other areas, where new technology can help us offer better services to our customers.”
