As a company whose members represent twelve of the world’s largest banks IBOS’ international reputation will be measured not only on its business but also on the impact it has on the environment.

The IBOS Environmental Policy aims to develop sound environmental practices within our its business and also inspire its members to reduce their own environmental impact.

IBOS’s most significant environmental impacts are:

  • CO₂ emissions due to energy consumption in offices and fuel in transport
  • The consumption of resources, such as office supplies
  • The environmental performance of our suppliers
  • The generation of waste
  • Generation of waste and emissions from major business events

To deliver this policy IBOS makes the following commitments:

  • Energy Efficiency
    • To monitor the office energy consumption and where practical take positive steps to reduce the use of resources.
    • Encourage the use of public transport for employee commuting.
    • Offset CO₂ emissions using an appropriate scheme.
  • Suppliers
    • Work with suppliers to ensure that products used are; recycled, recyclable or from sustainable sources.
  • Waste
    • Minimise waste and recycle and re-use where possible.
  • Business Events
    • Where practical encourage the use of virtual conferencing instead of face-to-face meetings.
    • Re-use and recycle as much material as possible from events.
    • Offset CO₂ emissions by donating to local renewable energy schemes when there is no other option but to fly to events.
  • IBOS will seek to encourage members to adopt good environmental practices while updating them of any changes in our policies.
  • IBOS commits to considering the environment in all further projects and business developments.
Monitoring

As part of the monitoring process IBOS will carry out an annual sustainability report that will include the environmental actions and developments from the year. This will analyse data gathered through the year and can be used to generate targets for the next year.
