It is a broadly based financial services group with operations spanning retail banking, corporate and commercial banking, financial markets activities, wealth management and insurance. With an AA Credit Rating, RBS group has more than 30 million customers worldwide and total assets as of 31st December 2005 of £776 billion. Since 2000, the RBS group has made several acquisitions including the £21 billion acquisition of NatWest and the $10.1 billion acquisition of Charter One in the US. RBS has delivered double digit income growth every year for the last 5 years, and 42% of the group’s profits are generated outside the UK. The recent 2005 results (Operating Profit £8.25 billion) demonstrate the Group’s ability to sustain growth across a broad range of businesses.
