Santander Totta is a worldwide financial group focusing its operations on commercial retail banking, and provides a full range of differentiated products and services to individuals, companies and institutional investors. Banco Santander Totta was established following a corporate restructuring process to merge the commercial banks within its group in Portugal (Banco Totta & Açores (“Totta”), Banco Crédito Predial Português ("CPP") and Banco Santander Portugal ("BSP")) into a single legal entity (CPP) whilst retaining a multibrand strategy (the brand Totta and Santander remained). The intended outcome is a holding company (Santander Totta SGPS) holding a commercial bank, the former CPP, renamed Banco Santander Totta, and an investment bank (BSNP).
Banco Santander Totta is a wholly owned subsidiary of SCH, Madrid.
Commercial banking is conducted through the retail networks of Banco Santander Totta SA and BSNP is responsible for investment banking activities. Specialised credit (including leasing, factoring and consumer credit) and investment funds management activities are managed by specialised operating companies owned by Santander Totta SGPS and that use the networks of Banco Santander Totta to distribute their products. The Group’s overall strategy is to position the commercial bank (Banco Santander Totta SA) as an universal bank offering clients a full range of banking products. There are slight differences in the business approach between the two commercial brands with Totta being more an universal banking aimed at every segment, whilst Santander is a more progressive and innovative bank focusing on a younger and more affluent client base.
