Profile
The bank was founded in 1987 by the Hungarian government and privatised in November 1998. At that time the shareholders were:
KBC Bank 23.1%
Irish Life 23.1%
EBRD 18.2%
ÁPV (State Holding Co.) 17.1%
A majority share was acquired by KBC Group in February 2001, giving them 98.5%. In July 2001 there was a merger with ABN Amro Magyar Bank and now the shares of K&H are owned by KBC Bank for 59.3% and ABN Amro Bank for 40.2%. KBC is in every sense the managing bank, with ABN relatively silent.
K&H has 163 branches, approx. 500,000 retail clients, and 70,000 corporate customers. It supports 256 ATMs and 10,000 POS terminals. 100,000 chipcards are in issue. The bank supports sophisticated mobilinfo and e-banking services, and has a full bancassurance product line.
Cash Management in K&H Bank
K&H maintains a full range of payment services, stressing automation but also tailor-made solutions.
For Liquidity Management the bank offers zero-balancing (single currency) and notional pooling (single and cross-currency), both services being available on a domestic basis and cross-border.
It has over 10,000 users of eb services, being its own Electra platform, or the KBC Group W1SE offering, or direct interfaces.
It supports MT101 and 940, with MT941, 942 and automated 195 coming into production in 2005.
Major strengths of the K&H approach are:
- Large client base: high proportion of payments are book transfers (both buyer and supplier in K&H Bank)
- Strong international background: cross-border solutions
- Straight Through Processing: quick & secure transaction handling
- Dedicated cash management team: tailor-made solutions
